“Up there Cazaly” rang out over the speakers as the painted up, babelicious barmaids served drinks to the punters as they awaited the first bounce! It was Grand Final day and everyone was pumped! The purple haze that spread across Melbourne in support of Fremantle, wasn’t evident at Red Bennies on this last day in September.
The crowd were well and truly behind the home team Hawthorn. The first half of the game was lackluster as the skills shown by both teams resembled that of an under 10’s match, with Hawthorn kicking 5.5.35 to Fremantle’s woeful 1.6.12. The crowds mood was down, however, once half time hit and the Marvelous Montana hit the stage, the crowd came alive! As Montana demonstrated why she was named Miss Nude Australia 2011, the crowd were going nuts!
After her show, the game came back on the big screen and another cheer came from the crowd as Fremantle mounted a bit of a comeback. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough as Hawthorn fought off Fremantle to win the game 11.11.77 to 8.14.62.
Fremantle’s first ever Grand Final appearance didn’t end with Prince singing “Purple Rain” but instead Bruce McAvaney talking about how delicious Cyril Rioli is. Either way the crowd were happy and singing along to Hawthorns theme song. A great way to end an iconic Australian day! Be sure to get in on the action for next months Schnitz N Tits as we bring back the classics!
